Finally saw this movie tonight. Capra-esque indeed, man. From the first five minutes I knew exactly what was going to happen, but it sure does a good job getting you there. It was refreshing to see such a positive feel-good movie like this. And wow, impeccably acted across the board (especially the young boy who played Bullock's son).

Mostly Capra mixed in with light shades of a PG-13 Spike Lee.

"Capra-esque tone and feel" That's a bold claim, but coming from someone who played a pitch-perfect George Bailey, I lend your statement a good deal of credit. As saccharine as this movie seems, I'm excited to see it nonetheless. It's an age-old storyline, but it sounds like it's very well done. And Bullock has always been one of my favorite actresses: not a dim bulb with good looks like Megan Fox, but an intelligent, strong actress who respects her craft and performs with class and grace (even though some of her movies have been kind of lame). I'm anxious to see her in this role.
